Owner/President:
Richard Pandolfi has been President/CEO of a number of high tech companies over his 50 years experience in the design, development and manufacture of complex electronic systems for military applications in addition to development of the United States AMPS cellular module phone system.
As an electrical design engineer with over ten technology patents, Mr. Pandolfi served on the Board of Directors for both U.S. and European high-technology companies having products in similar markets.
Mr. Pandolfi spanned decades of political lobbying in Washington, D.C. for various Defense Military and Communication programs. He was a member of numerous committees specializing in Department of Defense Command, Control and Communication programs. He was a pro Bono member of the National Safety and Transportation Administration’s (NHSTA) IEEE1616 Committee where he served on the USA team as the technology member for this international committee resulting in the development of the world standard for vehicle ‘black box’ specifications, adopted by all countries.
After retiring in 2001 from his very active career which focused on Department of Defense related projects, he turned his attention to renewable energy with emphasis on Geothermal systems and related Green Energy implementations. Mr. Pandolfi formed PGI Geothermal Corp. In 2004, specializing and consulting in contract design as well as installation of residential and commercial geothermal applications. This company thus far has installed over 200 systems. Mr. Pandolfi has given a number of geothermal training classes to professional groups. He designed multi-stage refrigeration systems during his DOD related experience which required simulation of high altitude aircraft sustaining a decompression cycle where temperatures are in the -70 degree C range in order to facilitate the test and qualification of his company’s products.
Mr. Pandolfi’s Career in Brief:
In 1957 after graduating from college, he worked as an engineer in the design and development of computer peripheral equipment for a Long Island, New York based company, Potter Instrument Company, and for almost 18 years progressed through the company’s hierarchy. He advanced to Division Manager of Potter’s Military Products business until the company filed for bankruptcy.
With a group of outside investors (Swedish based firm), Mr. Pandolfi purchased the assets of the Military Products Division from the Courts and formed Miltope Corporation where he was President and CEO for over 15 years. During that time, Miltope became an internationally recognized company and a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of Command Control Computer electronics systems. Miltope had several facilities in the United States, Europe and Israel supplying and supporting systems for various domestic and international DOD applications. Miltope had over 1,000 employees and sales in excess of $100 million dollars.
During his career, Mr. Pandolfi was awarded a number of technical patents: US Patent 6935535; US Patent 6486855; US Patent 6289678; US Patent 4994823; US Patent D393838; US Patent 6504713; US Patent 6141611; US Patent3453954; and US Patent 3348479.
Mr. Pandolfi further started additional “spin-off” commercial, non-government sector business’s, most notable Millicom which was one of the initial cellular companies here in the United States. Millicom teamed with RACAL (UK) and formed VodaPhone to develop England’s first cellular carrier. While Mr. Pandolfi was President and CEO of Miltope, the group designed both the handset and base station systems for VodaPhone which eventually became of one of the world’s largest cellular companies.
After retiring from Miltope in 1991, he continued to serve as a Board member for a number of companies. Shortly thereafter he joined the Cambridge Group as Group President (for eight companies) having diverse commercial products/software. He was operations CEO for a UK/USA based SMD Parallel Processing computer company.
In 1995 Mr. Pandolfi formed PGI Corp. to design, develop and manufacture a number of handheld and military vehicle and airborne rugged computer systems which became the United States Army’s defacto standard for all Command and Control Systems. He then retired in 2001 after merging PGI Corp. with Miltope Corp.
